Who We Are

Founded Feb. 12. 1909, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the nation’s oldest, largest, and most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization. Its more than half-million members and supporters throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, campaigning for equal opportunity and conducting voter mobilization. 

The San Luis Obispo County Branch is 450 members strong! 

What we Do

We advocate and engage on local, State and Federal levels for social equity in these areas: Criminal Justice, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental and Climate Justice, Health, and Media Diversity
